Diploma of Aviation (Flight Instructor)
Soar Advanced Flight Training’s Diploma of Aviation (Flight Instructor) is a 16 week course and the only one of its kind to offer dual qualifications as both a CASA Grade 3 Flight Instructor and a RA-Aus Flight Instructor, rapidly boosting your career prospects and opportunities.
An instructor rating sharpens flying skills and enhances discipline, accuracy and proficiency. Becoming a Flight Instructor is one of the best ways to continue gaining flying hours required by airline recruiters, whilst sharing your aviation knowledge with young and ambitious students.
Flight instructors graduating from this course and meeting job placement eligibility, are guaranteed a minimum of 100 paid hours with Soar Aviation or one of our partners.
Students undertaking these courses will be enrolled at Box Hill Institute (BHI). Soar Advanced Flight Training (SAFT) is contracted by BHI to deliver the training and assessment on BHI’s behalf. Privileges of Licence
As a qualified flight instructor, you will be able to:
- Conduct flight training for pilot licences,
- Ratings (except for flight examiner ratings),
- Endorsements (except for flight examiner endorsements),
- Grant design feature and flight activity endorsements to pilot licence holders,
- Conduct differences training for variants of types of aircraft,
- Conduct training for general pilot competency,
- Conduct flight reviews,
- Approve someone to fly solo,
- Approve someone to fly an aircraft while receiving flight training for a pilot licence, rating or endorsement.

Fees & Financing
VET Student Loans is an Australian government loan scheme available to eligible Diploma students through Box Hill Institute.
Eligibility requirements include that a student must be:
- an Australian citizen; or
- hold a permanent humanitarian visa and usually reside in Australia; or
- be a qualifying New Zealand citizen.

Graduates from the Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Aeroplane) AVI50215 are encouraged to continue their studies with the Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating).
Alternatively, to be eligible for the Diploma of Aviation – Instrument Rating you will need to have:
- a current CASA Private Pilot Licence or CASA Commercial Pilot Licence, and 50 Pilot in Command Navigation hours.
- a Class 1 or Class 2 Aviation Medical (as applicable).
- and an ASIC (Aviation Security Identification Card).
